Our main working hypothesis is that the restructuring and catching up of Central and Eastern European economies (CEEEs) enterprises are faster through their integration into international networks than through independent strategies. For instance, the Polish or Hungarian car industry, not to speak of the Czech one, are more advanced in restructuring than the Russian or the Ukrainian industries. The study is divided in four sections. A first section recalls the pattern of competitions in developed market economies, the second section emphasis on the restructuring of the car industry in CEEEs, section three concentrates on two case studies: the Czech Republic and Russia.
